Research Facilities
Swine trials are conducted at separate nursery and finishing sites, both located in central Alberta, Canada.
The nursery site offers the capability to test up to five different diets and five different water treatments. Data collected includes weight gain, daily feed and water disappearance, mortality and morbidity rates, medication treatments, and blood and fecal samples.
At the finishing site, up to six different diets can be tested. This facility offers the capability to collect weight gain, daily feed disappearance, mortality and morbidity, medication treatments, and carcass data. In addition, blood and fecal samples can be collected if prescribed.
Poultry research is conducted at a broiler production site located in southwestern Ontario. Here we can test up to four different experimental diets. We collect data on weight gain, daily feed disappearance, mortality and morbidity, medication treatments, and carcass characteristics.
On Farm Trials
The Gowans research team also offers their expertise to clients who wish to conduct controlled on farm trials or to assess the impact of changes to their production process on results. We’ll advise you on appropriate trial design and statistical analysis within the constraints of your facilities or existing database. And we’ll generate a final report which includes proper analysis and interpretation of the results.
